Troubleshooting
Quick answers to the questions people ask most, from a studio that won't start to a render that looks too dark.
The studio won't start
Auddomate renders on your graphics card through WebGPU, a modern browser feature. It needs:
- Chrome or Edge, kept up to date.
- A computer with a reasonably recent graphics card. Most laptops and desktops from the last few years work, including Macs with Apple silicon.
If the studio says WebGPU isn't available, update your browser and your graphics drivers, then reload. On a work computer, WebGPU may be switched off by your IT settings.
The render is grainy
Grain is light that hasn't been fully counted yet. It clears as samples add up.
- Give it time, or raise Stop at in the Render tab.
- Make sure Denoise is on, in the Render tab.
- Glass, depth of field, motion blur and scenes lit through small gaps take longer than most. See Quality and noise.
The render is too dark or too bright
- Adjust Exposure in the Camera tab for the whole picture.
- Adjust the sky's Intensity in the Light tab.
- If your file brought its own lights, adjust Light strength in the Light tab. See Lights from your file.
- If glass looks black inside, raise Max bounces to 16.
My model is missing or tiny
- Press F to reset the view and frame the scene.
- Check the Scene tab: your model is listed by its file name.
- If it's far too small or large, it may have been exported in unusual units. Check the export scale in your 3D app, or export a GLB, which always carries its real size.
Textures are missing
- GLB carries its textures inside, so this usually means they weren't embedded when exporting. Choose the binary format and embedded textures.
- glTF and OBJ need their texture images dropped at the same time as the model. Select everything together and drop again. Auddomate tells you which files it's missing.
Materials look grey or plain
Materials from third-party renderers, like Redshift, Octane or Arnold, can't be exported to glTF. Switch to your 3D app's standard material, or bake the look to textures. Procedural textures need baking too. See Materials.
The floor is in the wrong place
Turn it off with the Floor switch in the Scene tab. If your model has its own floor, Auddomate usually notices and leaves its floor off.
My model disappeared after I reloaded
Imported models stay for your visit only, so that nothing is ever stored or uploaded. Drop the file in again.
The video won't save
Some browsers can't make video at very large sizes. Make the window a little smaller, or save PNG frames and make the video in your editor. See Rendering video and frames.
Rendering is slow
- Make the window smaller while you set up your shot.
- Lower Max bounces for previews.
- Close other heavy tabs and apps that use your graphics card.
- Keep the studio's tab in front while rendering animations: browsers slow down hidden tabs.
Still stuck?
Run the checks and press Copy results. The report includes your graphics card and browser, which is the most useful thing to share when asking for help.
