Setting the scale
Everything downstream — areas, aisle widths, travel distance — depends on this one step.
#Automatic, for DXF
When the file declares its units, the scale is set the moment it opens and the panel reads Scale read from the DXF, naming the unit. You do not need to do anything.
#Two-point, for everything else
- Click Set scale in the panel's Scale section.
- Click one end of something whose real length you know. A rack bay, a dock door, a printed dimension, a column grid.
- Click the other end.
- Type the real length and choose the unit.
Longer references give better scale. A whole rack run measured end to end is far more accurate than a single bay, because any error in your clicks is divided by the length.
Measuring a raster plan at 42 mm per pixel from a 30 m reference, template geometry lands within a few centimetres of its intended real-world size. Measure something short and blurry and it will not.
#Checking it
The scale bar at the bottom of the canvas rounds to a sensible length in whichever unit system you have chosen — 20 m, or 50 ft — and is the fastest sanity check. If a bay you know to be 2.7 m spans roughly half of a 5 m bar, the scale is right.
#Units versus language
Units are a separate setting from language. A German user can work in imperial and a British one in metric. Change units from the user menu and every dimension on the plan, in the check, and in the report follows.
