Building a fleet
Machines, units and shifts, and the four figures that fall out of them.
#The builder
Open Fleet. The study's lines are on the left; your machine library is on the right with a search box and class filters. Each library row shows the three figures that matter when choosing — minimum aisle, travel speed and payload — and a plus adds one unit to the fleet. A machine already on the fleet shows its count instead, and the plus adds one more.
On each line, step the units up or down or type a number, pick 1, 2 or 3 shifts, or Swap the machine for another while keeping the units and shifts. Everything saves as you go.
Clicking a machine's name opens its library profile. That profile is shared: a banner there says how many studies use it, because a change reaches all of them.
The study's machine count on the dashboard is derived from the fleet — it is not typed separately, so the two cannot disagree.
#The four figures
- Units
- Total machines, and total unit-shifts per day (units × shifts, summed).
- Widest aisle needed
- The largest
aisle_min_mmacross every machine in the fleet, and which machine sets it. This is the demand the layout must meet. - Combined capacity
- Sum of
capacity_kgacross all units. A rough measure of how much the fleet can carry at once. - Fleet footprint
- Sum of length × width across all units. Floor taken when everything is parked, before travel space.
#The demo's fleets
The demo sandbox includes studies with fleets already built, so you can see how the figures behave before entering your own.
