The demo sandbox

What the demo is, what it contains, how long it lives, and what it cannot do.

1 min read3 sections

The demo is a complete organisation of your own, created the moment you slide the control on the sign-in page. Nobody else can see it and nothing you do in it affects anyone else.

#What is in it

  • Five complete studies for five fictional clients, from plan to report, in every status.
  • Three scaled plans — a distribution centre, a cold store and a cross-dock — with racking, aisles and docks already marked.
  • The full starter machine library, fleets on nine studies, simulation inputs on six, and telemetry on four.
  • A team of five, so the roles and invitation screens have something to show.

#How long it lives

A sandbox is deleted automatically a few hours after it is created — the exact figure is shown under the slider on the sign-in page. Its files go with it. There is no way to extend or recover a sandbox; if you want to keep work, export it or create a real account.

#What it cannot do

  • Change its own sign-in details. Everything else in Settings works.
  • Change the team. Invitations, role changes and removals are locked in a sandbox, so the seeded team stays as it is.
  • Survive. See above.

To keep demos from being used as free hosting, a small number of sandboxes per hour can be opened from one address. If you hit the limit, wait an hour or sign up.
